CMJ's Survivor Flyball!

NASDOG Racing sent 2 teams to CMJ's annual Survivor Flyball Tournament over Labor Day Weekend.  The tournament was a blast - the weather was perfect and there was PLENTY of racing!

This was more of a training weekend for NASDOG, so while we didn't place well, 3rd for Pole Position and 4th for Need For Speed, we certainly did accomplish some of our training goals for the weekend with Mini running in her first full-time slot and with Hawkeye making his racing debut.

Hawkeye did excellent at the event!  He warmed up the first couple of races of the day and was very solid - so we slid him into several heats through out the weekend and gave him some real racing experience.  While we had him slated to run anchor only, he did so well that we gave him a couple of heats in 3rd position as well!  He absolutely LOVES the game and earned his FD this weekend.  *It should have been more but his team mates had some bad passes and he decided to go make a visit to the other lane during a race costing him some points.  But overall we are extremely happy with how he did!

It was definitely a fun weekend for all and we can't wait to do it again next year!

All Dogs ~ Boston Stragglers Summer Dog Days

NASDOG Racing headed up to Manchester, NH for the first weekend of August to play at the Boston Stragglers/All Dogs Gym Dog - Days of Summer Tournament.  It was a total blast with TONS of racing for all the dogs.

We ran 2 teams at the event.  Our Regular Team - Need For Speed featured Vapor (courtesy of Belinda and Moonspinners), Riley, Miss Jake and our 2 height dogs - Spice & Mini sharing the HD spot for the team.  The team had a best time of 21.425 and came in 2nd Place just behind Maine Coast Runners.  This was Mini's 2nd tournament and she did pretty well earning her 3rd title of FDCh and running a new best time of 5.9 seconds.  Jeff was also masterful running Vapor for the weekend after Belinda twinsted her ankle - he had several .007 starts with Vapor this weekend!

Our Open Team - Pole Position featured Kira, Larney, Pulse (also courtesy of Belinda and Moonspinners) and Shadow & Annie sharing a spot while Annie continues her flyball comeback.  The team run undefeated for the weekend and earned a first Place finish.  They also ran 2 team best times!  With the lineup of Kira, Larney, Shadow Pulse and the team ran a best time of 19.778 and with Annie, Larney, Pulse, Kira they had a best time of 19.683!

Running in the Veteran's Division was Jetta of Moonspinners with our Jr. Handler Steph.  Jetta ran great and her team took home a First Place finish (and some meatballs) as well!  And Happy Birthday to our Jr. Handler Steph who will be 15 years old this coming weekend!

Four dogs earned new titles this weekend:
Shadow - FMCh
Kira - FMCh
Larney - FMX
Mini - FDCh

This weekend also marked the official beginning of Hawkeye's tournament career with him and owner/handler Heather doing warmups with the team for the weekend.  You can expect to see Hawkeye in the lanes this Fall racing season!

And last but not least we'd like to welcome our newest team member - Mojo!  Mojo is a rescue from the Greater Nashua Humane Society.  She will be the team's 3rd Height Dog and will begin her flyball training later this month.  We hope to have this 'tiny terror' in the lanes in early 2009.

Blizzard of Paws!

NASDOG Racing spent the weekend of July 19th & 20th playing at Weston Whirlwinds Blizzard of Paws event in Foxboro, MA.  It certainly wasn't a chilly event as the name would indicate!  There were record high temps for the weekend, but you wouldn't know it by looking at the dogs - they were all revved up and ready to play.

This event marked the official debut of our new HD Mini.  Mini shared a half-time racing spot with our other HD Spice along with Kira, Riley & Miss Jake for the weekend on our Regular Team - Need For Speed.  The team had a best time of 21.279 for the event and came home with a 4th place finish which we were extremely happy with considering we ran a green dog part time at the event.  Mini and Spice both did an excellent job keeping the jump heights down for the big dogs and racking up some decent points for the weekend.

Pole Position ran in the Open Division with Larney and Shadow from NASDOG, Torc from CTFF (along with owner/handler Pat) and One from BS (along with owner/handler Gail).  This was the 2nd time we have run with Pat and Gail and we had an absolute blast with them as always!  They had a team best time of 22.007 and came in 4th in a VERY tough Open Divison against the likes of NET and Canine Mutiny!

The racing format was 3 of 3 and even with 12 races per team we were out and on the road and very reasonable hours on both days!  As usual, another great Region 13 flyball event.

Top Dogs!

NASDOG Racing is proud to announce that 2 of our team dogs are in the top 250 point earning dogs for 2008!  Riley came in at number 167 with 6,134 points for the year and Kira came in at 183rd with 6,036 points for the year.  Nice job to these dogs and their handlers!
