Bio: Chili was pulled out of a Texas pound days before Thanksgiving 2005, at 7 years old. The Shaver's fostered her for Border Collie Rescue of Texas (www.bcrescuetexas.org), but Chili quickly had them wrapped around her little red and white paw and never left. When pulled from the pound, Chili had heartworms, was 25lbs. overweight, had no muscle tone, and shortly after blew out her knee. Now at 9 years old Chili is heartworm free, has a svelte figure, is your typical active Border Collie, and has a metal plate in her leg from her knee surgery. Chili is on the slow side, but other than that you would never guess she is nearing her 10th birthday. Chili has dabbled in herding, but due to her slowness is not able to work in large areas.
Chili is almost as well traveled as Jazz, having been to 19 states and 2 countries. Her favorite location has been Quebec City where she stayed at Le Chateau Frontenac... a very long way away from the pounds of Texas! Chili has recently begun her training in flyball and is doing excellent. She has a nice recall to 'Mom' and is learning to also work for other people (with the help of some stinky cheese!). She has recently begun working on the shoot to mold her future boxturn and is doing great - she's fearless! Chili may never be a speed demon like her siblings Jazz & Hawkeye - but she's going to make an excellent Vet's dog for sure! Be sure to check back often to see updates on Chili's progress. |
